Learning to Go With the Flow

Updated: Feb 9

Can you think of a time in your life when you went against the grain? Or, what about a time in your life when you went along with the events at hand?

Life's Ocean teaches us many valuable lessons through nautical analogies designed to help readers of all ages navigate through life. One of the most important takeaways is the concept of going with the flow instead of always trying to go against the current. What does this mean?

In life, we are like the water. As things happen to us or to those around us, we can either resist what is happening, or we can go with the flow.

There are times, of course, when the urge to resist is the right thing to do -- especially when the situation

is not healthy or otherwise good for you. Other times, however, we can adjust and let the currents of life take us where we are meant to be.

Now, back to my earlier questions:

Can you think of a time in your life when you went against the flow? What about a time when you went with the flow? What was different about those two situations? Would you handle them the same way again?

It's always important to keep in mind another valuable lesson: You are the captain of your ship. As you set sail, sometimes the seas will be calm and at other times they will be turbulent. Life is filled with both perils and pearls. Learn to trust yourself as you ride the waves.
